Goat Kid at three days young

The Mother goat and kid are always very close together. Feeling a little like paparazzi note in every picture the mother and new-born are staring at the camera. That is probably a good idea. Being ever vigilant – including with the aid of the two rams – is good life insurance. There is strong evidence of a coyote that roams at night. The kid, if left alone, would be a productive evening’s work for the predator.

During the day the mother and offspring lay a lot in the high grass. It is certainly warmer down there; they are shielded from the cold north wind. Daytime temperatures are in the mid forties. I assume feeding is going on but I haven’t been able to see that to make it a fact.
